The Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) has been developed to encourage and enhance cardholder data security and facilitate the broad adoption of consistent data security measures globally.
The standard consists of 12 PCI DSS technical and operational requirements that help organisations that process card payments prevent credit card fraud, hacking and various other security vulnerabilities and threats. The standards apply to all organisations that store, process or transmit cardholder data. A company processing, storing, or transmitting cardholder data must be PCI DSS compliant and validate this compliancy annually.
